Tyler and Daniel Wedding at L'Auberge
The process: We started planning this beautiful wedding with a venue and very large Pinterest board of all things from coastal to boho to classic and everything in between. It was a fun journey to get to know them and what would really speak to them as a couple. Designing this wedding, I really narrowed down what it was they wanted their guests to feel when they were at their wedding. They explained it as classic, elegant and stylized, so I ran with that. I kept things classic with the steel blue throughout but added in the soft velvet linens at the guest tables and patterned linens at cocktail hour. We kept the place settings classic with the clear and gold-rimmed but made sure it had texture to add another layer to the design. We wanted guests to feel like they came to a beautiful dinner party that was intimate and detailed. Each element of the wedding was thought out and important. My other main goal was to make sure they had the best of the best in terms of their wedding vendors. They had an incredible team of vendors to bring their vision to life and you can tell by the photos.
The Challenges: It was a challenge taking all their ideas and styles they liked and narrowing it down into one fluid design. Really trying to focus in one one thing they loved and building the rest around that. It can be hard as a designer when there is not quite that one photo that shows what you are thinking. It was most helpful to do mock ups of the tables and flowers to make sure the couple loved the vision I had prior to the wedding.
Unique Elements: They had a gorgeous dessert display that included a cake topper that has been passed down from generation to generation. They were the 9th couple to use the cake topper that has been in Daniel’s family since his grandparents first used it on their wedding day in 1943. They surrounded the cake with photos of Daniels family members using the topper, as well as photos of Tyler’s parents and grandparents on their wedding day. Another fun element was the lounge down in the ballroom which had a live band and beautiful couches and decor. It really ended the night perfectly.
